I got a new DJ1 fork from a guy but he custom painted the lowers a patina green. Nice, but not my thing. Anyone know how to go about removing the lowers so I could strip it and give it a repaint? Do people powder coat the lowers on forks or do they just do a can primer/color thing? I can have both done. Thanks!

I rattle bombed a fork last year with no ill effects. Some careful taping meant that I didn't even have to take it apart. A light sanding of the current paint will give the new coat something to stick to. Just be sure not to paint the sliding surfaces or leading edge of the seals.
