Stik, as always with some great insider info. Glad to hear the Palmero landed somewhere he felt good.
Tell us more!Jeff would probably chime in but with getting some new models finalized,
ugh, hope it didn't come out that way.there you have it...stiksandstones is responsible for everything!
I bet he even pushed down on the seat and said, "...feels plush"Let it be noted for Record: Palmer's comeback sponsorship was determined by a parking lot test.
I wonder if this all went down at Fox's new suspension test center?I bet he even pushed down on the seat and said, "...feels plush"
agreed. jd = radballzJ.D. and Palm as team-mates is just about the raddest freaking thing ever.
I had no idea you thought ballz were so rad.agreed. jd = radballz
we need to take him with whitsell again for some late night bromont parking lot rallye slaying!
Thnx for the info Stik! Looks it was not just about fun and training for Olympics, but also for the money...but Palmer is a champ and a walking advert and nothing is really for free today.I shouldn't be talking about any of this, not that its CIA sh1t...but here is how the last 12 months went down, in a very small nutshell.
Last summer, we all know Palm tested with Peaty and Greg, was gonna be a syndicate member, race some world cups all in an effort for training-for palmers olympic bid. The Santa Cruz hookup was inspired by Peaty and Palm assumed with Santa Cruz he could work out a nice salary for this mini-comeback.
When I saw Palm in person last october I told him he was a douche for not even giving Jeff(intense) a call for some bikes, Palm said he thought Santa Cruz could get him some more money and at this point was all about money/hanging with peaty/liking the VPP/liking santa cruz/digging roskopp, I gave Palm a ration of sh1t for not giving Jeff a ring, he felt bad, but nothing ever came of it. So all winter Santa Cruz tried to get some outside sponsor money for Palm and apparently that didn't pan out.
Up until 2 weeks ago there was still no Intense/Palmer communication. Jeff called Palmer and said 'atleast come try a bike'...Palmer came down, pretty much rode an intense around in the parking lot it was a done deal...he felt like he was home.
Jeff would probably chime in but with getting some new models finalized, the new Palmer stuff (Jeff is going to the canada world cup rounds and europe) he is pretty pinned right now.
I figure the fans wanted to know, so there is my 2 cents.
haha, ya, I forgot to add that come summer 2009 Palmer found that no one had any money and just wanted to be on the best bike for him.About what Stik said , that was then this is now , if it was all about the $ he wouldn't be on an Intense.
He's been watching too many rap videosI did think it was funny a year ago when he told me he wanted to 'get paid'
I can only tell what I know about why he isn't on Evil. Palm wanted some ownership of the company as compensation to ride the bikes, and like you said, in 2009, that's not realistic.haha, ya, I forgot to add that come summer 2009 Palmer found that no one had any money and just wanted to be on the best bike for him.
I did think it was funny a year ago when he told me he wanted to 'get paid'...I told him he was crazy, this is still the MTB biz and still the MTB biz in 2009!
Master of many sporting disciplines, marketing icon, and at the same time a savvy businessman. Is there anything he can't do? Glad he found a good home. Not like it was a loosing proposition, where ever he landed with those 3 options would have been a good home. Indeed a great story though, I've had fun watching it all unfold.I can only tell what I know about why he isn't on Evil. Palm wanted some ownership of the company as compensation to ride the bikes, and like you said, in 2009, that's not realistic.
I think it's a better story, better for the sport, and awesome for Intense that he's back on Intense. It just feels right to me!
In the near future??????I am seeing a shortage of those white 951s in the near future...
In the near future??????
All of the old guys will be on white 951s while the young guys will be on red Demos.I am seeing a shortage of those white 951s in the near future...

or Elka in the Bromont lot with all the ugly fat french canadians wearing their speedosso i finally clicked on that link... well played
you could make an avy one too... just use a pic of the plattekill parking lot
or probably any other dh bikeAbout what Stik said , that was then this is now , if it was all about the $ he wouldn't be on an Intense.
And those mechanicals added up to how many points? That's all I'm saying.^ hmmm, man, I was at every event back in those days, Joe Buck (his mechanic) lived at our house and Palm stayed with us many a time and I don't remember more than a few times he had mechanicals like that.
I think you have Palmer and Orlando Martinez confused.
And Cully with all those issues?? no one has ever been as smooth or will ever be as smooth as cully and he rarely tore sh1t up either.
I don't recall Palm and Cully breaking a lot of stuff, but I do remember Shaums breaking just about everything. He even broke a friends prototype frame in the parking lot at the Michigan national one year.Guys like him, Cully and Shaums...the equipment wasn't really ready for them back then.
ummm if money is so tight at Evil how did Ska Todd pay for a mini me clone?I can only tell what I know about why he isn't on Evil. Palm wanted some ownership of the company as compensation to ride the bikes, and like you said, in 2009, that's not realistic.
Ha-ha, that is an awesome story. That would make my day as a 30 year old kid.I remember i was at 7 springs for the national and completely blew up on the course, wrecked my elbow and had blood all over the place. Got to the bottom of the mtn and palmer was standing there saw my arm and said 'My man that is gnarly' and gave me the devil horns...made my day as a 14 year old kid...
LOLI got something else to point out about Palmer that is way different than back in the day. He's never been on a bike that could last a whole weekend under him. Back in the day, he snapped off bottom brackets, bent crank arms, destroyed chain guides, blew up shocks, crushed rims, flatted, ripped off derailleurs and rode gum sole Vans.
lol that's hilariousummm if money is so tight at Evil how did Ska Todd pay for a mini me clone?
