Yesterday was IMBA's Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. It was a rousing success.
We had kids from 3 to 13, and a bunch of adults who acted like kids too.
Our first ride was on the Out 'n Back and we had a kid on training wheels riding it.
Sure there were lots of crashes, but lots of fun too.
After that section some rode more, while others got lunch ready.
The kids played football while we cooked and everybody had a great time.
After lunch some folks took off, and others went for a ride afterwards.
The late group rode SMA's to get the kids some milkshakes. Excellent.
My son and I rode the singletrack with his trailabike and even rode some of the smaller log piles.
The only problem he had was smacking his hand on a tree trying to get through a narrow opening between 2 trees.
There was a little blood and a lot of tears, but hey that is just good training for the future.
My legs are hurting big time today as we rode our usual trails, but I had an extra 60 pounds to drag along behind me.
Every so often Trip would help pedal too, but it wasn't often enough.
This morning I asked Trip what his favorite part of yesterday's events was and he said, "the mountain biking."
Pressed further I asked what was the best part of the mountain biking, and he said, "the log piles."
It sure made me one proud papa.
