You probably wont believe it, BUT... I met Diamond, yes Diamond Darrel before he began calling himself Dimebag Darrel on the Cowboys From Hell tour. He was due to play Friday night a big concert in a heavy metal club I hung at and he and his brother stopped in on the Wednesday night before. Me and a buddy had a beer with them at the bar. That Friday I was heading to the Head on the side of the stage, hollared his name and motioned for a pick and he came over the side of the stage and handed me one.
He was a great guitar player. Awesome on stage.
