Has anyone been there for biking in the summer? is it good? i figured i could make it a road trip with my buddy and drive from socal, hit up bootleg/moab, and then head up to park city for a couple weeks...and good type of "freeriding" stuff(on the trails, like ladders, jumps ect...) there?

I was hating the close of Brianhead in September. I am so addicted to the Timberline trial. It is easy but oh so fun. I was skiing there the other day and saw a sign for that trail peeking out of the snow. It was horrible because I can not ride it. They have some other good trails there too. Not exactly in the area you asked about though. It is near Bryce Canyon and Cedar City, Utah.

hmmm anyone with real riding experiences at Deer Valley? i have some awesome accomiditions, and itd be ALOT cheaper then goign to whistler

Real DV rider here. :D The DH riding is pretty decent at the resort itself and, if you can hook up with some locals, there's a couple very challenging trails just outside the resort (you can actually ride to 'em, drop in, and shuttle back to the resort on the bus) that would be sure to put a smile on your face. The "locals-only" trails come complete with some wicked stunts (for not being located in Canada) and a pretty good sized road gap. In fact, a moderate portion of the stuff scares me (even after having ridden Whistler), and since I'm pushing 40 and don't heal as quickly as I used to, I oftentimes choose alternate lines to the stuff I feel there's a really good chance of getting incredibally messed up on. Yes, I'm a wimp.

There's also buckets of very fun all-mountain type singletrack to hit on a trail bike, both within the resort and in the very immediate vicinity.

On DV property, there's three marked "black diamond" DH trails: Fire Swamp, Thieves Forest, and the old NORBA NCS course. Fire Swamp and Thieves are very steep, rutted, rocky, and rooty fall-line trails that can be fun. We have two local races on 'em every year. The NCS course - just re-opened last year - is in rather poor repair. However, with another NORBA supposedly coming back to DV next summer, I hope to see that trail brought back up to par, and/or another DH-specific trail cut in.

In addition to the stuff mentioned above, there's a handful of "cruiser run" trails at the resort that are fast, fun, and a great place to practice cornering.

I'd say it would be a bit of a stretch to spend a week at only the resort, however, if you have access to a bike you can pedal comfortably, there'd be plenty of trail riding to fill the time between lift rides and "locals" fun.

Stop by Go-Ride while in town. You could probably arrange to ride with Krispy, Von, etc, who know not only the resort, but also most of the locals stuff. Also feel free to PM me before coming out. I've got a small group of friends that ride in PC (DH and trail), and chances are good we could get at least a few people together for some rides and/or lift runs. :thumb:

Oh, BTW, DV generally doesn't open 'til mid-June.....

Oh, and as for dirt jumping, my house is a couple of blocks from Tanner Park, which is featured in a couple vids, and which has some (as far as I'm concerned) really big lips. There's also a nice jump park in the foothills just north of the city, which is more suited to 26in bikes. It has lots of rhythm jumps, a small ladder drop, and a couple of great natural drops into a ravine (one about 8ft, the other about 12), one of which transitions into a step-up that is incredibally fun to hit. Riders far, far better than I throw down some very cool tricks on that step-up. I'm just happy to land it with my balls still attached. ;)

I'd be driving up there witha truck, and i have a nicolai mpire(9" travel) and the kid id be going with ahs a bighit expert(8.2" travel), so i'd be able to drive to pretty much any of the surrounding areas, but would prefer if we could get shuttle runs, cause we dont like pushing our bikes up whole trails(who does?).

So do you think if i was to plan a 3 week road trip, 2 weeks staying at a condo in Park City(on the slopes of Deer Valley), it would be a fun trip? Have you ever ridden at parkcity/canyons? i dont know if they are open during the summer...
so tell me what yout hink about a trip up there for a week, if youd get bored or not...i could have free accomidations at the condo, and also have a job lined up at Park City Marriot...saving me the plane ticket, accomidation, and money issue for staying in whistler for 3 weeks or a month...

By the way, we are both very capable riders, and also young(17 years old) so we're looking for fun, fast, and good trails to ride on.
