Hiding from the stupid
I don't really know what to say so I am just going to leave this here. How far right do you have to be before you lose Pat fvcking Robertson?

Pat Robertson via TPM said:
When Pat Robertson — yes, Pat Robertson — thinks the GOP base is too extreme, it might be time for some party soul searching.

As Right Wing Watch reports, on his 700 Club broadcast on Monday Robertson — the founder of the Christian Coalition — said the following of the Republican party’s lurch to the far right.

“Those people in the Republican primary have got to lay off of this stuff. They’re forcing their leaders, the frontrunners, into positions that will mean they lose the general election.”

He concludes, “if they want to lose, well this is the game for losers.”

Best quote from the comments. I agree completely.

Just to say it again, Robertson is NOT saying the GOP is too right wing. He is saying they should LIE about being so right wing. That is a very different thing.
Mr. Morality Robertson is advocating deception. He is afraid the GOP/Tea Party base is making Republican presidential candidates actually admit their reactionary leanings. This is completely consistent with Robertson and his view of morality. For him, installing an extremist president is the imperative.
Don't mistake this for for some sort of urging of moderation, Robertson just wants the base to accept less than honesty, knowing (wink wink nudge nudge) that their candidate can reveal his true colors once in the White House.

Lying for Jesus is actually totally accepted practice in the Christian community.

Substitute Jesus with XXXX and I'd guess it's an accepted practice in every evangelical religion.
