I talked to the Michelen Rep at tahoe. He said the key to successful patching is to thouroughly sand the area the patch is being applied to. Silly me I didnt sand at all cuz I thought the area was already rough. He also discouraged the use of glueless patches, but I'm sure they would work in a pinch.
Actually the sanding is two-fold. Yes it does clean the tire but it also makes it rough so the patch can stick. It's like when you sculpture with clay you have to score the clay before you put on another piece. The makes it so there isn't two smooth surfaces trying to be stuck together. (Which doesn't work well).
