Riding the baggage carousel.
Someone posted a Teaparty rally poster at work and I would like to replace it with a more accurate one but I need your help with this. If someone could paste this over a burning cross I would be forever greatfull. Feel free to make other changes as you see fit.

Do you have a video camera?

If so, I'd love to see some footage from this event.

Alright, here is the best I could do. As Patrick L pointed out the resoulution is pretty sh*ty (the flyer hung here at work is itself difficult to read the finer print). I'd kill to find a better picture.

Pretty good.
It would be quick and easy to change the logos of the sponsors. Instead of the ones there, maybe add Doritos, Busch Light, The Dallas Cowboys and Ruger.

Do you not like the tea party movement?
No he does not like the tea party movement.

Neither do most people who have an IQ over 80. Their central tenets are concepts many or most do not even understand themselves. Yet only in their realm can a 'movement' initiated by Dick Army, vastly supported by Fox news and many people in the government they claim to despise, be considered 'grass roots'. Also only in their realm can a gay jewish guy and a black dude be seriously considered as nazis.

So yeah, I feel pretty comfortable speaking for him here but the teabaggers having partys to teabag is a pretty much one gigantic joke.

What are their ideas that most do not understand?
That trying to regulate some pretty ruthless practices by companies in something as important as health care is not fascism or socialism.......never mind both of those at the same time.

That the census is a direct result of the constitution of the united states. The very document most of them love to toss around........ And that they think this is government intrusion when its primary purpose is to allocate federal representation in the very government system also laid out in the constitution.

That medicare many of them benefit from, is a wholly run government program not unlike what was being discussed in the healthcare bill they so adamantly oppose.

That among civilized, developed countries, we actually don't pay that much in taxes.

That ronald regan raised taxes to points higher than they are currently for a lot of people.

That obama actually lowered most of their taxes.

That a pale former coke head and mormon who speaks only to line his pockets is not exactly the guy you want to be following advice from regarding frugality.

Those are a few off the top of my head.

Oh come on man. Are you going to go copy what I wrote and put it up on some militia website as some sort of example? I mean you did ask.

Please don't kill me.

See it's only funny when you say that because it's about me.

I was the only one defending him in his last appearance with all those crazy videos! (in the courtesy realm.....I still thought the videos were nutty).

I'm out in the woods a lot building trails. I'll be leaving myself wide open. This sucks!!

My reasons for disliking the Teaparty, as reposted from a FB post:

Honestly? I think that it's made-up outrage at something that doesn't actually exist. They claim to protect the constitution, but had zero problems with it when GWB was trampling it with warrantless wiretaps. They're pro-war, but don't seem to have a problem with the fact that neither the Iraq war (or Afghanistan) were actually "declared wars", something that only Congress can do.

They claim to fight against socialism, when in fact something like the new health care bill really *isn't* socialist (the government isn't producing something, or owning anything, which is the definition of socialism; there's a reason I referred to the public school system as socialist since it is actually producing something).

They claim to want "fiscal responsibility", but to them that means nothing more than tax cuts, tax cuts, and more tax cuts. It doesn't matter what the budget deficit is, tax cuts (that create a bigger deficit) are the answer. There's a reason Palin crossed out "budget" in favor of "tax" cuts on her crib notes.

They claim to want a smaller government, but actually want *more* military spending. The fact that we went from $300b in 2000 to $800b now means that we should spend even more in the next couple years.

If the Tea Party were truly Libertarian (Ron Paul, for instance), very, very limited government, legalizing drugs, almost eliminating the military, etc, I could understand. I wouldn't agree with everything, but I could at least fathom what he would want. The Tea Party is for smaller government, except for the military and things that they like. They're for lower (no?) taxes, but can't fathom how lower taxes equals bigger deficits. They want less government, except for those social issues where they want MORE government interference in people's lives (abortion, gay rights).

So yeah, I don't really hold too high of an opinion of the Tea Party... I think they're just an extension of the GOP, following their lead on smaller government (all the "bad" types of government, like entitlement programs, education, state and local government support), but bigger government for GOP ideals like the military, foreign wars, etc, and extensive government interference in social issues like abortion and gay marriage.

Okay. Because the highest priority in my life is keeping Kidwoo happy  I redid the poster before I left yesterday and put it up on the wall. Got a couple of angry text messages from the night guys but otherwise overwhelming silence, even when I came in this morning. Which around here, means:

I may have to put up the AngryMetalsmith version before I leave today.:weee:
