That Lapierre bike looks good with normal tires, not overly heavy, I suppose since it doesnt use Plus Size Tires, PST .What? Really??
The only thing I'd want to do with an E-assist bike is ride it up steep, long fireroads, just so I could rip some sweet trails down. But again, if you read my post above, that defeats the whole idea of "mountain biking" to me & the bike probably handles like shit, hence why I'm against it.
Are you implying that you would ride an E-assist bike UPHILL on a flow/jump trail that's designed to go down??? (e.g. Unemployment Line @ Galbraith in Bellingham, WA)
If so, LOL. I have nothing left to contribute to this thread.

Nicolas Vouilloz is a big fan of getting paid by Lapierre to sell what they're selling.
Easy for you to say, with full use of your legs.So...instead of that carbon S-works that got ridden twice by a dentist and put up for sale, it will now be an e-bike?
I seriously doubt they will sell many of them. People that genuinely enjoy mountain biking won't buy them. I know I won't.
Sorry to shoot holes in you trying to act righteous using a technicality, but but pedal-assist bicycles don't apply to someone that can't pedal...Easy for you to say, with full use of your legs.

We are making the same point, for some reason you're getting uppity about it. You know you're being pedantic, as it's the same technology being used.Sorry to shoot holes in you trying to act righteous using a technicality, but but pedal-assist bicycles don't apply to someone that can't pedal...
There's a difference between pedal assist bikes that require pedaling and what he is riding, which is basically an electric motorcycle. Personally, I have no problem with people that require something like that. If something ever happened to me, I wouldn't want to stop doing things I enjoy. I have followed Ashton for a long time and he was/is a fantastic rider. I couldn't imagine that happening to me, nevermind someone that lived their life and made their living through bicycles. More power to him. He's a strong individual.
Wouldn't you have to catch them first? Might be hard if you were already suffering. If I am ever suffering up a climb, and somebody passes me on one those bikes smiling, the following video sums up what I will do next:

I'm pointing out, that the technology, has it's time and place...I've made that point previously in this thread, just used this video as exhibit A, which is clearly a polar example, but applies to those who are more abled as well, though not fully able.
Word!yeah since moped = motorcycle, a PEDAL assist bicycle = electric moto. I'm sure alta motors would agree with your assement. Pedantic he was not, words actually have meaning, strange how that works.
Haha, you don't even follow the conversationPeople are more "disabled" when they drive car, drive Segway, use public transport ..
Opinions on the Cube e-bikes being used by the EWS media guys?
Seems like a good idea to me, but it's a pretty rare usage.
