I have some Shimano Ultegra SPD-SL and I want to loosen the tension. Well, I thought I did -- several turns -- and they don't feel any looser on exit.

One time I loosened regular SPDs too far, a bolt or nut or whatever came out... apparently, once that happens, they're permanently broken. So, does the same thing happen with spd-sls or is there some safety stop mechanism?

Also, uhh, "-" is to loosen, yeah?

Don't know about the breaking question. I know that was my issue as well with the SPD-SL they don't have enough float & clipping out doesn't get any easier with wear on the cleat like Look or Speedplay.

bummer, thanks all.

I don't need them looser normally, but while rehabing my knee, well, maybe I'll put on an old SPD pedal that's loose.
