Pedal weight question

I'm looking for a thin light weight platform pedal. Strength and durability aren't as much of a concern as weight. I haven't been keeping up with pedals for awhile, and it seems like there are 80 million options out there these days.

Anybody have any recommendations?

I like my Ex-pedo Sprys. They grip better with the aftermarket split steel pins though. I’m using the stock, aluminum pins in the outboard 3 spots, as “wear items”.

What the shit? There are flats that are 260g, under $100, and relatively thin? If anybody has any other suggestions I'm all ears, but gonna be hard to beat that I think.

Hah! I'd be more concerned if it were going on a mountain bike, not my commuter. I just want pins, thin, flat, and light, and figured a DH forum with a bunch of flat pedal nerds would be a good place to ask to see whats out there.
Ah yep true. If not subject to patented-toodles rock-strikes or cased jumps, then Wellgo mags or Nukeproof magnesium units are my crazy light suggestions.

I have a pair of like new Deity Blade Runners that I would sell for less than $100 if anyone is interested. Make an offer.

I really like them, they are great on the pumptrack bike and surprisingly durable. Planning to try them on a longer travel bike soon but for that I first need to track down the other pins. @rpet: do you have a parts number or such?

I have a set of Origin8s on my trail bike, used to be on the beer bike, then I broke my pedals and stuck these on the Carbine,. So far so good after about a year. https://www.amazon.com/Origin8-Ultim8-Slimline-Platform-Pedals/dp/B00ACTKSLK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1529359658&sr=8-4&keywords=origin8+pedals&dpID=41nJ-PeA8cL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch $60 and 308 grams seems to be pretty good on the dollar to gram scale.

That said, the Spry's look like a better bet, Amazon has them for $68 as long as you like black.

I got em on eBay, but these are them...
There is a pointy spike version also.

Thanks, I thought you had used some from another manufacturer because you said "aftermarket". I have the spike version on order with my LBS here in Yurp, but they seem to not be able to get them. So I was hoping for an alternative solution as I have heard people did make other pins fit, just not sure which.

If it's a commuter then just get cheap plastic pedals.

Well, its on a pretty nice full dura ace commuter, and I hate flexy no grip plastic pedals. I also hate having to change my shoes because I wore clipless shoes to work.

You say platform so why are we talking about clipless now? As for plastic pedals - ot all are flexy. I'm using dartmoor cookie which uses a wellgo shape and they grip well and are decent at 315g but if you want real light why not look for mortop pedals? Their TI spindle version was 225g. They even had something lighter that was a Twenty6 pre runner design where they cut out some important structural parts. This meant they were suicide for DH but for commuting they might work. 205g with TI, 245 with a cro-mo axle. I think they were called Mortop 503.

Xpedo Spry's are going to be the winner in the weight department, fairly grippy as well.

However, light and cheap they are, but strong they are not. Sheared mine off on a fairly mundane rock strike. Buyer beware, and realize they are kind of disposable.

I had Spry's for a bit too, the the body split apart on mine, but for the price I didn't care. I used them on my "xc" bike and they held up for two seasons, so I got my money worth out of them.

The stock pins to suck, as others said, change the pins asap if you that route.

Yeah, I'm pretty set on the xpedos at this point. Cheap, light, and should be more than sufficient for riding on pavement with an occasional curb hob now and then. I'm currently using some wellgo lu939 pedals on it, I'd imagine any flat with pins will be an improvement, and I shouldn't even take a hit in the weight dept.

Thanks for the suggestions!
