Was riding XC at a local park today, and on my third lap of the fairly lame loop they have, I was informed by a hiker that bikes are not allowed there on Saturday. I was aware that we werent allowed there on wednesday, but saturday is news to me. A few minutes later another hiker told me the same thing, to which I replied "When is the no hiker day?" His bitc... I mean wife said rather arrogantly, "Neevvver." Anyway I finished my ride regardless and wasnt ticketed or turned in by anyone. Its bad enough that these oatmeal muching environazis who dont know sh!t about cycling have turned boulder into a mountian biking mecca with almost no mountian biking trails, now they have to take the best day of the week in one of the few local spots so that 4 or 5 hikers can have the park all to themselves. I hike, I also backcountry ski and run, and I know for a fact that passing a few bikes on the trail never hurts anyone. The two people I passed that hasseled me I passed while climbing, and they answered my friendly greeting by rather rudely informing me I want allowed to be there. Some days I want to go back to maryland... haha ok thats not true.

people in the woods shouldn't really cop an attitude with people. it's pretty silly when you really think about it.
do you know for a fact that Saturday is a no biking day then? Or were they just trying to be dicks....
Next time you're in the wrong you should just learn some fake foreign language and ride by with a confused look on your face.

Just ignore them. I'm fairly confident the authorities will have better things to do than to stop you riding. Be sure to have some cutting comebacks ready for next time it happens.

I don't know the rules for the park he was talking about, but I do know the rangers here are considered law enforcement officers. They can and do ticket people. They also have the power and authority to outright arrest anyone if they deem it necessary.

While I agree with that power assigned to them and have not heard of any ranger abusing it or being difficult to any rider, the public (hikers, horse riders) are getting a bit more annoying.

I agree that there should be hiker only days and there should be biker only days as well.
