Slacking at work
As you all know I'm SEVERELY and COMPLETELY against our troops being in Iraq. Today I heard that one of my co-workers' son was killed there within the last day or so. This co-worker is one of the nicest guys on the planet, my heart is truly broken for him. He felt his son was doing good things over there and knowing him, I have to believe that his son was one of the soldiers over there trying to do the right thing.

Just a very sad day :(

echo: you're grief for your co-worker is well-founded, appropriate, & understandable, and disjoint from your political position.

loopie: 1-out-of-2, unless you mean it's sad the girl's parents weren't allowed to carry out the justified execution.

its really a terrible world. sh!ts not fair. but thats why you gotta live life. because it might not be there tomorrow. i recently crashed my truck into a tree at 50 mph. i could have been killed in that crash, but i came out without a scratch. since then i dont take anything for granted. i felt like i was given a second chance. it made me realize how quickly some maniac can come into your work or school and blow your brains out. i can only hope that these people are in a better place now. i hate to hear these stories because it allways happens to good people. it truly breaks my heart and i find lately that when i read this stuff i just sit there staring at my computer screen for a couple minutes thinking of what the family and friends of that person are going through right now. the girl getting shot hits especially close to home because the girls ex boyfriend is a member on here. it just shows you gotta appreciate life while you have it. because the fact that youre alive makes you a hell of a lot more lucky than alot of people.

Echo, your sorrow is a noble thing, I beleive it comes from the heart. Please dont confuse supporting the troops with supporting the war; only an idiot supports a war, because the harsh reality is that fine young men like your co workers son are being killed for no good reason. I am one of our troops, and I dont agree with the war and the convoluted reasons GW and Co. give for it, and the reluctance to pay attention to experienced soldiers like Colin Powell who tried talk sense to the senseless...
Please share my best wishes and prayers with your co worker.
