(am I going to get in trouble for posting a PS question?)

Using PS 6. I want to make some little pointer arrows, is there a way to make straight lines? All I know how to do is to "draw" with the pencil tool and scrolling my mouse, surely there is a way to make lines?? I am making a series of instructional photos for my site, and this is what I am coming up with...these look pretty bad IMO...

instead of using the pencil tool, use the pen tool! it is better for doing poly lines...

once you have the line drawn as a path, you have to "stroke" the path... let me get onto the computer with ps on it, and I will give you a better step by step...

whoa, cool. I'll wait and see. Keep in mind I am a pretty much complete idiot in PS, I can barely do layers.

what is the custom shape tool?(I know, totally hopeless...)

use the line tool, and use the arrow option to either put an arrow at the start or end of the line. you might have to click and hold the rectangle tool on the toolbar to change it to the line tool

ok, pen tool and stroke seems to be working. (thanks!) but, if I am putting several different pointers onto one photo, what is the command to keep them seperate? They want to connect. My work around is closing the image and then reopening it but I know that is lame.

Thanks. Much better. Now I am going to have to redo all the other ones..

Use the arrow in the custom shapes. It will look a lot better than just making one.

1. Right click the line tool below the text tool.
2. Select custom shapes.
3. Click the cutoms shapes icon (rounded star shape) .
4. To the right of it, select the shape you want, in the drop down menu.
5. Draw it at the size you want.
6. To rotate it, click free transform under edit, or press ctrl (or command, on a mac)+t.

Hope that helps.

So are photoshop questions supposed to be posted here now? I know there was a big hoopla about the photomonkeys....

What exactly is my site? Two parts really. I am a custom technical wear specialist, ie, I sew custom technical clothing and do repair. I also have a huge section devoted to the do it yourselfer. There's personal stuff buried in there somewhere, too.

here's the main page,
www.specialtyoutdoors.com

and here's the section I am specifically working on,
http://www.specialtyoutdoors.com/tips/zipandcollar.asp which is part of the tips for making your own gear section.

I agree, that logo is great.

The hoopla about the photo monkeys was blown way out of proportion by Graphics being a drama queen and Reactor letting the hecklers get to him. Post any photos, photo-related questions, or anything else you want here just like we've always done, and nobody is going to give you a hard time. Nothing has changed, except we're now short a couple of the photography monkeys who got pissy and left.

Glad you like it. I got it from "god I love the internet" Some one who was helped out by my tips page had their GF make it for me just because they wanted to. That tips site has brought me many good things, it's great to help people out.
