They didn't. They were one of the early players in MTB shocks, under the name Noleen. Later partnered with Proflex and later K2... I'm not sure if K2 bought out the rights to the name, or if Ohlins continued to play a part right up until K2 shut down their bike line...

Hopefully they got it right this time around. For $800 they had better.
So Öhlins were behind Noleen?? wow, i didnt know that. can you tell me more about it? Like if they manufactured them or if it was just a license thing? Coz considering Öhlins quality i wonder why they werent popular enough to still be around. BTW, i thought K2 bikes were still manufactured?

I didn't misunderstand; I disagreed. An $800 price is not "sensible", Ohlins or not. That is more than any other shock I know of. Based on that fact alone and the quality and options of some other offerings, I do not consider 800 bucks to be sensible.

Maybe i was abit unclear, but i must insist that you didnt understand my point, since i was being alittle ironic. hence the smiley. becouse i think Öhlins have always been too expensive. The 800 price tag on this new shock would defineltly follow normal Öhlins pricing though. If people think thats too much, which i do, thats understandable. But to Öhlins aparently its sensible. And aparently many consumers, racing stables or not, agree or they wouldnt be so respected.

But again i emphsize, i dont like their price tags either. :nope:

This is what Öhlins told us about the new C-C shock a couple of days ago...

Total Length: 175mm to 250mm
Coil Diameter: 40mm
Hydraulics: Latest Öhlins-technology. Dual settings, both rebound and compression.
Weight: 850gram to 1500gram (1.88lbs to 3.3lbs). Depending on the length and the spring.

In case anyone didnt know, it is going to be produced by Cane Creek in the U.S and will be available in the spring 2005.

That shock looks like the ones Öhlins designed for the F1/Indy car market, the TTX. I will try to find some pics here to show you.

the ohlins shock is supposed to be hardcore crazy...u'll be able to go from super rocky terrain to 20 ft drops without adjusting it. its got like tow stages in it...upper and lower...u can adjust the rebound and compression on the upper section and u can do the same for the low section...its krazy...800 bucks is a good price

Over your shoulder whispering
Herndon talked like this thing was just stellar during the test rides he's done on his Demo8. He said he intentionally rear wheel smacked a huge downed tree trying to get bucked at full speed and it sucked it up. Then as they were rolling the bike back to the car, they noticed that it would even actuate on pieces of gravel. Joe at Cane Creek said Herndon's got the only one in the US for now.

That's just freaky sounding but to hear him describe it...I believe it.

Obviously who ever stated about the pricing of this shock relative to other Ohlin's markets has owned one. Their friggin expensive in general. But t hey work. I've got a pair of front shocks on my sno-x sled, looking at damm near $1800 CDN for the pair. But they flat out work better than anyhting else out there. Anyone looking for a cushy ride, apply elsewhere, I've never ridden an Ohlin that's plush. But they suck up the big stuff like it's nobody's business.
