It's called Uber fest and I have it every year in my back yard.

This year it happed to fall on July 3rd so there was lots of fire works and my landlord lit a huge bon fire and almost lit the friggan woods on fire.

I thought we were all invited. I just hate driving home from NY drunk so I couldn't even consider it.

Ah.... a Blow Log... it's a tradition from the white water kayak/red boat fleet community...

The general idea is while you are out in the woods riding your bike, look for the largest hollow tree trunk you can possibly carry back to your truck.

You can either toss the hollow log into the back of your truck OR tie it securely to the bike/kayak rack on your SUV. This way others can admire your trophy.

Next, schedule a party and place the log (hopefully it's 3-5 foot long) on its end and fill it with an assortment of spray paint cans, hair spray cans, leftover fireworks etc.... pack the rest of it with dry leaves, twigs etc... and a touch of gasoline...

Tap a keg, and strike a match and enjoy the fun!

Don't knock it 'till you've tried it.

They are a BLAST...

Even without the explosives, blow logs will funnel flames up through the log and into the air for several feet...

Oops... on thing.. make sure the cans (hairspray/paint/propane) are all nearly empty...

The bon fire you had was perfect for a blow log... just get some fool... er...flame retardent friend... to wade in and set the blow log up in the middle of it...

Paint and hairspray cans are one thing.... a can from a propane torch cylinder is a whole different level of magnitude.

Of course a much cooler magnitude.

Kissing chick are ALWAYS hot!!!!

Now, a couple of the best features of a blow log, besides the explosive stuff, are the fact that once you get the chimney fire going you don't have to add wood to the fire all night. The other pleasant feature is that the smoke from the fire gets propelled high in the air so it is almost like having a smokeless fire.

An even cooler fire trick is to throw a mason jar half filled with gasoline with a hole poked in the top into the fire. As the gasoline boils off the jet of vapour shoots a nice big column of flame into the air.
