last week i took a drive down to NYC for a jazz show (john zorn's masada, in 4 guises...check out www.oyhoo.com for the details), and took the opportunity to walk around one of america's finest cities...i was staying in the west village, at a friend's place, so took the opportunity to walk around the vicinity...union sq, st mark's/lower east side and bowery, into chinatown, a bit of SoHo, little italy, and back. man, some amazing buildings and also great people watching. unfortunately i didn't capture some of the more flamboyant characters; maybe next time. here are some random images from my ~3 hr walk around the area.

[edit - decided to break it up into a few posts to see if that clears the red 'x' issue]

I've been to that Paul Frank store and Webster Hall as well.

I assume you were on/around Cannel Street?

i started at around 10th street, walked up to 14th, then headed south down to canal or so. chinatown/little italy was about the furthest south i went, then made my back. hit Other Music, then dropped off my stuff @ the flat, walked to Astor and took the train to the 92Y concert hall.

You'll always be Mr. X to me. Looks like you had a good time. Wait til I come to Boston and take pics of your seemingly everyday stuff. ;)
