We've fought two wars in the middle east in the last 20 years and Israel provided exactly nothing in terms of supplies, logistics or territory to launch strikes from. Tell me exactly what is "tactical" about that position? In Gulf War I they were actually a liability since if they'd retaliated our coalition would've disintegrated. Yeah, regardless of what they are to us, "reliable and necessary ally" isn't the first thing that comes to mind...
