here are some shots from this year. The local trails are the hard, rocky, steep ones that have had a few races on them and the others are Otter, Fontana, Santa Ynez and Parkfield!

Dood. Share your secrets. Give us rookies some tips!
Ok I can try, if you are serious?

1. Use AV mode until comfortable enough for M
2. Use histogram to determine exposure.
3. Use flash when needed and use it to pan.
4. TRY PANNING
5. Vary shutter speeds.

Hope that helps???

Your face.
It does! Tell me about this one here...

How did you get the background so blue and the grass so dark? Flash I assume? Is it on board or remote?

What kind of gear are you running?

Ok that was shot Manual at F13 which was like 2 stop under what the meter on the camera said. It wanted more like F11-10 to I went 2 under and used a 580 Flash on Camera at full power. The SHutter was 250 and ISO 100.

I use canon gear and that was with a 1D MARK IIn I sold my M3 to buy...
and a rented 17-40L . I am trying to buy one right now so I will have that a 15 F2.8 Fisheye, 24-70 F2.8, 70-200 F2.8 IS, and 28-135. Need more flash but I prefer to use sun when possible especially if using long fast glass!

Many of those shots are in between San Francisco and LA. There are very few trees so we can see a long way off! An usually have brilliant light to boot.

Richard LAncaster Huh? Heard he came out to race the local face trail race. That guy was/is the ultimate bad ass on that trail and so is baggs. That is a real DH trail. nice shots
No thats his good friend Travis Robertson, look a lot alike but Travis is about 5 inches taller. But that is the bike Richard rode in Chainsmoke 2 down that same trail! Yeah he was at that race, did OK for not riding in a long time.
