Man that is awesome, are they JAD cranks?
thanks, yeah. i never heard about these until i saw them on ebay (while looking for more pedestrian redline flight cranks). pretty neat design - machined hollow with bolted covers. got a few bmx bits on there to satisfy the nostalgic cravings - bullseye front hub, profile stem, pro neck cruiser bar, crupi pedals.

I have not seen this suspension type in the preceding posts. Its now "superseded" and definitively funky looking, thus it qualifies :busted:

Pictures are of my bike, it just had a quick bath after a muddy ride. The front of the rear "triangle" is attached to the frame via that thin carbon fiber strip.

Regarding the livery, well I built this bike from the bare frame mainly from OEM parts thus branding it as any bike would be misleading, so I branded it with motorbike names :clapping:

EDIT: I forgot to identify the design, its the original FPS (Full Power System) from Lapierre.

We used to have one of those, in the blue ano (the next model year I think) at my shop. Matching Marz 500 fork, so dope. I wanted it so badly...

Sure that wasn't the Diamond Back, that was blue ano, or gunmetal, or something, crap it was a long long time ago. Same bike, was made for/licensed by Verlichi (sp) or something
No, I remember the DBR bike, this was the next model year of the Iron Horse. DBR had a similar bike, I think it was a Sintesi or something.

Wow, Cindy Devine....haven't heard that name in a long time. That bike looks full on DH :) I think its funny that are XC bikes now have more suspension than the old DH bikes

yeah, the frame was build by verlicchi, and sold under the iron horse, sintesi, and even kona names evidently.
I think that company makes (or at least used to make) some frames for Ducati, among others. So they have a pretty good name in the moto biz...

Thought you guys might enjoy some photos of vintage east coast Spooky downhill machines. I tried to build them with parts that would be accurate for when the frames were new.

wow...I remember drooling over these bikes when I was a kid. There were always 3 or 4 guys that rode these things at the trail 66 races. I specifically remember a florescent yellow one all tricked out.

Great work on those spookys RD3. If you can, get your hands on some of the old hardtails too :)

Btw, what's this I hear about spooky coming back. Has there been any more information on that?

They are. But as far as I know, they will only be making hardtails for the time being.

Heck, I have all the information.

Don't call it a comeback.

More of a resurrection. We are out of the gravity game, except for fun hardtails for being a goon or slalom bikes. Too many people make too many great bikes for all manner of free-chuckery, and we'd rather go ride in the woods all day, any day. We are working on FS bikes that the media would call XC races bikes though...
We are a youth movement. I've collected kindred spirits from every corner of the country, and we rally around the flag of emotional healing and wholeness through bike racing. It's like a bunch of ladies sitting around talking about menses, but with race bikes, commuter bikes, coffee and a reading list... Oprah better watch out for Spooky Bikes.

-Mickey, the guy that owns Spooky Bikes and cries spectating at pro XC races...

This thread got me motivated to resurrect an old steed.

I think one of the other team frames like this one ended up in a museum/collection. Therefore, this thing is now an "antique." :p
Check this site out (if not already posted somewhere in this thread)..
