Back in Finale - bit of a cliché at this point, but there are tons of great trails and Italian pleasures on offer. Very glad I also brought the Ebike as that really opens up the less crowded Calizzano/Monte Carmo area without having to rely on the vomit inducing Land Rover shuttles.

Best of all the town and beach are so nice that the family wants to go back in May.

Yeah, those were my backups. There’s a set of brand new IXS Carves lying somewhere on a horrendous hiking trail on Monte Carmo. But honestly the Race Face / Roach guards aren’t that bad.
It's not a dig- they lasted me like 3 or 4 years of heavy use. They only went out of fashion because people finally started making good pedals and sticky shoes, or valuing front-leg ventillation over protection

Didn’t take it as one. I’m more surprised than anyone that they haven’t come apart yet, and with the amount of shin bound rocks here I’m glad to have them.

Cross-post, literally. Probably should have done this thread instead of the last bike ride one. Cross race yesterday.

Sasquatch Jr. hitting a small hip jump at Killington this year. I wish I could have done that when I was 8! Strider bikes for the win!

I'm guessing 3 more years if he stays interested in DH, and I won't be able to keep up with him.

One of the coolest things about CF rims to me from being a long-time rider is how they just don't taco. We forget all the tacos we had back in the day and you can land CF crazy sideways and it won't taco. If you do it hard enough, you might break a few spokes...but you wont taco. I remember how great disc brakes were since your brakes would at least still work with some mild taco/bend.

I don't ride hard enough to taco a rim anymore but I'm pretty sure I'd be shit enough and heavy enough to break a carbon rim.
That was my front wheel, it ended with a decent concussion, a fractured collarbone and possibly a fractured ankle.
Pretty sure I've post this pic before.

Caused me to miss a round in DH, oddly the young bloke coming second in HT got an injury in the last round. I told him to line up at the start gate and pull a DNF to get the win for the year but he said something like "You missed a round so it's fair that I don't do it." pfft, morals.
Racing in the HT category was still the most fun I have ever had on a bike, my fastest time was something like 35 seconds off the track record, but it was a pretty basic DH track.

Or any rim that isn't just marginally wider than a spoke.

I broke every carbon rim I ever had

I certainly didn't taco even 5% of the aluminum rims I went through, and not really at all after about 2006
Yeah, I've broken plenty of wheels in other ways, but I haven't tacoed one in forever.

Carbon wheels have gotten a lot better, and I've overall had a better track record with them durability-wise than aluminum ones in recent years, but everything still breaks if you hit it hard enough.

Yeah I can't even remember the last time I saw a tacoed wheel.

Maybe at a bike park or something.

But if that happens, you've REALLY screwed up.....

Kidwoo needs to swing his leg over a pedal bike again and smash some of these newer dt swiss rims into some rox :)

Hit the airbags today, they didn't have a run in or hill so it was pedal and kept bags close to ramp so it was a cardio session and that slash just sucks up the face of jumps...bike wants to go fast and hit big .not a slow jump bike lol...moves big ramp back several feet and it was getting almost too much for pedalling and big bike lol.

WAS A GOOD TIME THOUGH!!!Better than sitting around and my kid hit the jumps too couldn't get him to hit the 8' .but we moved the smaller kickers back and could send those pretty damn far .

I hadn't seen a good old fashioned taco'ed alloy wheel in ages - just cracks and flat spots etc - until e.13 got all retro and brought them back with the alloy rims they specced on the Norco Sight a couple years ago. Every body I know who bought one had a cartoon-like catastrophic failure of those stupid wheels. I followed a guy on a lap on his maiden ride out on a new Sight and watched him taco one to a right angle just hitting a sandy turn too hard.

Talk about bringing back the 90s-00s.

too risky

I might have to talk to a bay area mountainbiker who won't STFU about whatever the hell he was convinced to buy that week
Have you heard about Cyfly? OMG, I'm 250lb and I rocket up the climbs now, it's amazing!

Can you please tell me how the fuck do you arrive to watch such bizarre kind of videos? Are you just tired if German scat porn or what?
I don't know, one minute I'm watching At The Drive In perform on Letterman and the next I'm watching that.
Don't kink shame me!
