Heyyy...bullcrew, you're a beastly man!...glad to see I'm not the only one around here.
Xt brakes are actually really good I'm impressed not a lot of modulation room compared to my formulas. They have a narrow modulation pull on lever before they bite, and bite they do... lots of power....sweet parts you got and gonna get
I get inspiration from your builds.
As you maybe saw in another thread, Im juggling beween choices. Nice to hear that you like XT brakes. Enough good for brake like Saint but better modulation?
it will be interesting how Flow EX performs. still ghetto method on those?
I see you have 180 Fox Talas SC, how do you like this? any difference of 2012 and 2013? will Avalanche build kit for you ? I look at choices for SC as Fox Talas, Marzochi 55 micro switch TA, Vengeance HLR DLA. Vengeance seem get praise a lot. Your thoughts?
Sorry for asking here about gear. If you want I can send Pm.
cheers. from cold Sweden (zero degrees )
If you need any tips on LOL riding, holler; No one gets pointed at and mocked more than I.thanks for the reply!
Interesting about Hope. I feel good about decision rebuilding on Hadleys
Do you still run single ply front and dual ply rear? I 'd like to try both single ply, hmm. I dont weigh much about 165 lbs. I need to experiment for tire choices for all-round as urban, am, dh . lol
I got a Hope 142 hub recently cuz it was like $100 cheaper than a DT 240 and QBP listed it as only 30g heavier. Unfortunately it's 85g heavier, not a light hub. I wish I'd paid for the 240. The new Flow picked up a few grams as well so my new rear wheel is 1/4lb heavier than my old one.Hope - nice colors and light
Not to completely derail this thread again, but this did the trick for me. I was finally able to hear myself think this weekend while riding...pleasant thoughts like "I suck", but still, it was nice to not have to listen to the spring rattle all day.I called a buddy today and mentioned this to him he said something about the spring seat not setting right to twist the pre load all the way on and go ramp it up a few times.
The fork rips....handles stuff really well....^ Dude Im this close to dropping it for the Van/Float 180. Thanks for the rep, now I really wanna try a Pivot, or any dwl dh bike.
Definently, I slammed some pretty nasty rocks the other day and going to keep riding them hard. When you get sometime on the flow ex's report back. Please
Yeah there's not a lot of Phoenix's out there, very small production runs...no real reviews or solid DH/FR info regarding it....I am really digging your Pivot Phoenix build bullcrew. I own a Pivot Mach 5.7 and that bike is amazing. I can only imagine how awesome the Phoenix is, particularly with that 180 fork on it. Hope you have many happy days riding it.
I am definitely curious to hear the results of that comparison. Thanks for bike whoring it up and sharing your thoughts with the rest of us!Buddy has a small so any ride time wouldn't be fair. If i can get ahold of another buddies ill put some runs on it.
No worries I was hoping there were others with the Phoenix who would chime in lol no biggie I don't mind the small crowd.I am definitely curious to hear the results of that comparison. Thanks for bike whoring it up and sharing your thoughts with the rest of us!
I'll swap for a run or two with you.Yeah I am curious to run a dhr after I get some time on this
That's right I forgot you had one fred....there it is.....I'll swap for a run or two with you.
Your LBS should be able to order em. If not I got mine at Universalcycles.com for around $100 shipped. Mine's even ghetto 10/9sp combo. I have a 9sp drivetrain, only the rear der. is 10sp (the Type 2).
It's interesting you mention this, because a lot of test riders expressed the same issue with the CCDB on the Sunday many years ago. They couldn't get the rebound 'fast' enough. The ccdb had a really bad packing up feeling on the bike, I adjusted stuff back out and gave it a shot but just not for me on this bike the rc4 is a way better fit for this frame.
Been a while man, the thing accepts more rider input then the sunday did. They both rip corners extremely which is a great thing, the Sunday would land and occasionally bottom out and no last minute ramp to handle the bigger hit which wasn't a bad thing. I like the last little ramp on the phoenix a bit more its not much but enough that it feels like a little more supple deep into it...It's interesting you mention this, because a lot of test riders expressed the same issue with the CCDB on the Sunday many years ago. Based on your riding notes, it does indeed sound like a refinement of the Sunday and pretty much is in line with what dw once told me. He had a Phoenix proto at the US Open and after a bit of Q&A I said: "So I guess this is like the Sunday version 3.0" and he just looked at me and said "Haha - yeah it is I suppose..."
I haven't had the chance to really rip on one... yet, but I'd be interested to see how the two compare for my own edification.
Sweet build BullCrew!
BTW - the AVY Cart you had fitted to your 40; it converts the chassis to an open bath system, correct? If so, any issues with leaks?
Thanks but I can't take credit for that trail. I've seen 2 other people do the same exact thing on the same step-down... like marbles on concrete, glad I didn't get hurt.Lol pics and video do not do that trail justice, that thing is a beast...
Fred very very nice trail, I need to go back and run it, called schwalbe new tires are on the way...man I told you that step down had wash out written all over it....I think all the rain did was knock down silt and leave all the kitty litter exposed...between that and the cut on my rear tire I'm glad I opted out then you washing out on landing confirmed it....lol
Even with scoping it and riding my pedals and cranks got worked pretty good, that is a very sick run...
Was a good time thanks, we will hit up the other spot and swap runs...
Ha. Ha.Thanks but I can't take credit for that trail. I've seen 2 other people do the same exact thing on the same step-down... like marbles on concrete, glad I didn't get hurt.
Anyways, we'll hit it again, this time no spikes... this is SoCal... gotta ditch those Schwalbe for some real tires... I got an old worn-out DHF that I can throw you, prob hook up better than those spikes!
I'll look into it I forgot I even had that there...-lolGreat thread. I've had my eyes on one of these for a while now, for a gift to myself for graduating next year.
btw, the Sponsorhouse link in your signature does not work.
Wow! Apparently not I haven't even thought about that and I would have noticed if there was on today's trail for sure...Is there any pedal feedback or anything?
