I have a Light n Motion helmet mount. I tried just the helmet light the other night since my Niterider bar mount craped out on me again, and I need more light.
The Alias has a "blue halogen" bulb, and it seems like it might be a little brighter than just a regular halogen, but not as bright as an HID.
HID is nice, but much to expensive for me.

I got my Elite Pro for just under $100 - I'd like to get a bar mount light in and around that price range.....any suggestions??
You can get the Pro Elite (they're super duper dual beam non-HID light) for about $170 including shipping.
