Well, we are setting the dates for our Whistler trip. We are trying to decide other places to ride along the way. Here is a list of other places we will be driving by. What does everyone recommend? We are leaving from Kalispell MT and going right into BC.

Panorama Ski Resort
Kicking Horse Resort-will also ride Mount 7
Sun Peaks Ski Resort
Kimberly Ski Resort
Nelson
Rossland

Has anyone ridden any of these places? How are they? We can only pick one or two.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about those areas but to help other people answer your question...what type of bikes are you riding...all mountain? big travel? hardtails? xc? And what are your riding styles besides DH?

Have fun! :D

Well, we are riding the Whistler Resort...... so that might give ya a little info. Plus all the places I mentioned are FR/DH resorts and towns. Anyway.:):)

We all have FR/DH bikes with two rings so we can ride uphill.

Has anyone ridden any of the Resorts I mentioned above?

I haven't ridden those resorts, although I spent 8 days with FreerideTours.com touring BC- I can recommend Nelson wholeheartedly - Nelson and neighboring Kaslow have some of the best trails I've ever ridden (pm for details, I don't think all of the trails are for a public board) - the downside is that it is a VERY long way from Nelson to Whistler - if you are driving from the US border - it's not soo bad - but we're talking about some big distances - in Nelson there are bike shops and shuttle services that can help you find your way to some of the trails (trails are VERY hard to find on your own - i.e. impossible) - but so worth the effort
Whistler, Squamish and The Shore are all much closer to one another and have, of course, some of the best freeriding in the world.

Calgary, Canada eh?
You are going to have a blast. Ive ridden all of those places, except kimberly.. I didnt even know they had biking there. Nelson is fun, the locals will somtimes show you some very sick trails. Panorama gets better each year, i was there on opening day a few years back and it was decent. I went back at the end of last season and it was really good. Its nowhere near whistler though.

If your going to whistler, I would suggest riding Kamloops/Sunpeaks. Its not to far out of the way. (Guess it depends how you are getting there). Sunpeaks is an awesome hill, lots of terrain.

Mount 7 is super fun too, again its out of the way from whistler, but if you like really long steep DH runs. Go.

Just pick 2 at random, they are all great :help:

Count me in i'm definitely going to work it in to my school schedule if at all possible, and i'll have 2 rings this year pretty soon (gotta love E13).

I suggest we hit Nelson and Golden... Nelson has a lot of spencer style stuff and Jordan was saying the "Monster" trail was pretty slick (in a good way) with a big ol' dropper (smooth though) on it and lots of steeps and ladders, and golden would be right up your ally britt, shuttleable trails that are way, way way steep and next to 100+ foot cliffs making it even more fun.

Just hope my bike holds up this year, i went through about 2.5 complete bikes last year.

Monster was exactly what I had in mind when I recommended Nelson - (it's actually above Kaslow - Monster is probably the toughest trail I've ridden - STEEP, loose technical (especially when combined with "Mr Skinny" after the big drop) - the drop is sick - like a huge trail trestle-bridge that comes to an abrupt end, with a nice tranny - but it is BIG!

Newt (or Nut?) Sack is another great trail in the Nelson area

Are you goin to school in the summer? Take some time off man and ride. School can wait.;) We only have 8 days and 2 will be spent driving. That leaves 3 at Whistler, 3 at North Shore, and 2 somewhere else.

sun peaks is exactly that a mini whistler, they have a good trail system, bikercross course, some DJ's (might still be there), the canada cup DH courses are great and its lift serviced obviously, but Kicking Horse has been trryin pretty hard lately too, i'm going snowboardin there in two weeks i'll talk to the locals and see whats new there this year
