Here's my plan for an agressive trail/ freeride bike

Transtion DirtBag
Z150 or Slider +
8" Avid juicy 5 or Hayes mag (unsure on this one)
Singletrack rims
V-drive cranks with A-frame pedals
SRAM/e13 drivetrain (36T to road cassette with STS)

Which fork/brakes would you go with, ignoring price and assuming this bike would be used for freeriding and trail riding with some small climbs?

thanks.

that sounds like a good set up. i would for sure go with the slider plus they have more travel for freeriding and its just as light or lighter than the z150, i would go with the hayes brakes to save a little cash and i feel like they perform very well- i have a pair.

hope my input helped

I would not run a DC on anything I plan on climbing, crown th knee contact makes me cringe.

Z1 6" should be plenty beefy and more features to make it trail friendly.

yea the Z1 6" is plenty beefy. sounds like a good build, i'd go with Hope Minis, or if not Hope then the Avids

6" firefly maybe?

I've never used J5s but have used 7s. I've used many a pair of Hayes. Given the 5s are the same as the 7s minus the pad contact adjustment, it's a toss-up between the J5s and the Hayes as far as performance goes. However, in my experience, the Hayes have proved to be more durable.
