SAN JOSE, CA- A press conference will be held to welcome the Dew Action Sports Tour on Thursday, August 11, 2005. Councilmember Linda J. LeZotte will join Mayor Ron Gonzales and others to welcome the event to San José.

The Dew Action Sports Tour will visit San José at the HP Pavilion on September 8-11, 2005. The City of San José is pleased to host the Toyota Challenge, the fourth stop of the Dew Action Sports Tour. San José was selected as one of only five cities to play host to the only pro tour of action sports. The Toyota Challenge will offer the community the opportunity to see the best action sports athletes in the world at the HP Pavilion.

In addition to sponsoring the Dew Action Sports Tour in San José, Toyota will be donating $10,000 towards the development and redesign of a BMX Park located at Calabazas Park in District 1 in West San José. Professional BMX rider Ryan Nyquist will be attending the press conference as well. Ryan Nyquist grew up in Los Gatos, CA and started riding at Calabazas Park. He is an honorary member of the planning committee setup to redesign and build the BMX Park. "I am grateful to Ryan and Toyota for supporting this community effort with their time and money," stated Councilmember LeZotte. "District 1 residents have been working diligently to plan and improve the Calabazas Park BMX area. Toyota's generosity will help to provide for the next generation of riders."

The place was killer as is, can you imagine it with a $10k upgrade, along with what ever the city was going to put into it?
