Moved to portland for a summer internship and I discovered possibly what everyone else already knew - Portland absolutely blows for mountain biking. There is no decent legal trails closer than a 45 min drive from where I am. Oakland has a far better trail system.

...or maybe i just dont know where to look. I mean c'mon, Forest park is prime - what the hell are firelane 1-5? Where are the cool trails? There must be some illegal trails or something.

Outside of illegal trails - where do you portland monkeys ride?

Wow. Your so off base. Sandy ridge, cold creek trillium, scappoose, ravens ridge are all ****ing amazing.

Just accept that you have to drive. The stuff above is all good plus there is Post Canyon and a bunch more XC stuff.

There is Powell Butte and River View which are OK for after work but don't plan a day around them.
