Possible temporary fix for leaky fork seal.

I replaced the fork seals on my lyrik with enduro ones a few months ago, and even on my first ride the spring side seal leaked. I've heard good things about enduro's customer service but I figured I messed something up while putting them in so they shouldn't have to pay for user error.

Anyway, I found some napa-brand "oil treatment" at my dad's body shop. The stuff is thick as syrup and almost as sticky. I mixed about 3cc's of it with 7cc of the 10w fork oil. I slipped some in my fork and took it for a ride and not a drop leaked out.

Is there any possible damage from having such thick oil on the spring side? I figure it's better than forgetting that all my oil has leaked out and riding it dry, but I also wonder if the stuff is splashing around enough to keep the bushings oiled.

Not familiar with the lyrik. If there is no damping equipment in that side you're probably ok.
That stuff may pick up dirt and grit and hold it to the stanchion, though. Bad news for coating and bushings.

Yes. I if those additives cause the seals to swell. There are some fork oils with seal swell in them for old forks I guess. That seal swell might also cause other rubber/plastic bits to swell too and maybe enough to damage or render the seals and bits ineffective or too effective. If it it just made the lubrication oil thicker, probably no harm although maybe the thicker oil won't splash about as effectively as it should.

There's not. It's strictly damping one leg, spring in the other.

Really the only concern I would have would be the one Woody brought up. It's also possible that some of the additives they threw in there to make the seals swell won't play nice with whatever compound Enduro uses for the seals, but there's really only one way to find out there.
