The last oil crash happened when prices reached today's equivalent of $75.
Here in NZ gas prices jumped nearly 10% last week - I am expecting more.

I use diesel, I was paying 79.9c a litre a month ago (NZ$) now it's jumped to 93.3c.
Time to invest in alternative fuels!

Fortunatly for me my commute is only a 40Km round trip and most of that is cruising on Highway.

I wish Toyota had the turbo-diesel engine available in the US that they have in nearly every other country of the world...

with adjusted inflation it will have to reach around 85-90 dollars a barrel until we really feel it in our pocket books.
...righhhhttt... How do you figure that one?

My money's on around $75 a barrel by the end of summer. BUt the question still remains that why is OPEC doing this. The know that it effects the whole of the world. Here's 2 possible scenarios:

1. The Saudi's are aware of the fact that they are closer to going bankrupt than the rest of us actually know and they want to get all the cash they can before they get deposed and executed (which would be a fitting fate for them).
2. They are just being jagoffs.

Dude, OPEC arn't doing this.. It's the markets.. OPEC are producing at the same level, in fact they said they'll do more soon. The price rise is being caused by above average American demand for the time of year (predicted to be the new 'norm') and China's ever increasing demand.

Yeah, uh huh, and the loch ness monster is a fake...

I know that the American way of use more in the summer months is why the cost is going up. I'm an American remember? I drive a fullsize Chevy truck and it drinks gas like I drink Captain Morgan. I just was looking for a reason to bash SAudi Arabia. There's so much going on in that country that we dont know about that it would take Interpol, the FBI and the world courts 20 years to unravel it all. Not to mention I hate the idea of monarchy. Its such a thing of the 1700's. Times change, but some people try to hang on to the past and keep what they have.

I hear that alot, but have yet to see anyone offer up any hard eveidence that its going on....

Chang, this is right up your alley and I threw down the gauntlet. Are you going to pick it up?

well, in this specific case, its hard to prove at this point...
yet, if it smells like a cat, says meeoww, its furry and scratches, chances are its a cat.....

just see the relationship between the arab govmt and the US, or the loooooooooong history of US intervention in the backyard, AKA latin-america....

but i gotta admit. i dont have any factual proof at hand whatsoever (nor i have looked for it on the interweb)... its like, you can smell the corpse, but you cannot see it yet.

Yeah the Latin America thing. WHat did we get out of that? More Coke coming into the country. Great trade there. Drugs are up and communism is down.

As far as the Middle east goes, there is no American interest there to get oil from them. If you remember there was a SHIAT load of money that pumped into Iraq from us. I think the primary point there is to get their economy jumpstarted so that they'll stop leaching off us.

By the way, I found Conspiracy Theory today at walmart for 7.50, is your copy played out yet?

haha, well, at a glance there is halliburton and the 18billion bucks contract...
while its no proof of causality... its a heck or one correlation/casual thing....

The Halliburton contract is to rebuild the infrastructure. The refineries are already back at almost 100% working. That was the first thing that the coalition rebuilt after the war was over.

well yeah, i want some bucks too...

just to start.... maybe, one of these nights, am gonna unintentionally crash my neighbors house with my car.. then call my insurance agency..
i need to make sure they will contract my car shop to fix my car, and that they hire my sisters building business to rebuild the house...

of course the insurance company will have no proof of wrongdoing.. but i bet they will find that a pretty cool correlation.....

like i said before, i (or the insurance company) got no factual proof (i havent looked for it, but maybe there isnt), but still that smells foul... and we could be here ad infinitum arguing over my un-confidence......

Ummm, I know the business behind it. There's no need to explain it to me. I saw it work first hand over there. Lots of money going into Iraq, but very little being done. I'm not disputing the validity of it. The whole thing over there with Haliburton is horse shiat, I agree with you completely.
