This model plane was exceedingly difficult to capture. A combination of being too close, and using too much lens. This is probably the best shot I got of the plane.

why such the fast shutter speed? couldnt you have just dropped the iso? i really like the hot air balloon pictures, the plane would have been nicer if there was some motion to the propeller.

Those are some cool pictures Pat. What kind of flash do you use?

I took this one yesterday. I liked the contrast between the life of the flower and the dead look of the ground.

1/10s (hand held), F/5.3, ISO400, 40mm

all film shots. i've noticed that i generally compose shots in an odd sort of way, but i kind of like it like that. i didn't intentionally compose the action shot though, i was just happy that it came out as i was shooting with a manual focus camera. i need to start utilizing the darkroom on campus and taking more photos.

I did film for a year, but never did my own developing.
developing and printing my own photos is why i like film photography so much more than digital. i just seem to get way more satisfaction working in the darkroom trying to get a shot just perfect than i do sitting in front of a computer screen. maybe it's because it involves more guesswork (for me at least) and i accidentally get some pretty cool results from time to time.

the only difference between PS and the darkroom is that PS has a 'undo state' option.

If you're careful about power consumption, most flashes can cycle very quickly.

Even my cheap-o Sunpak (which has horrible recycle times after full discharge) will shoot multiple FPS at lower power.

At 1/16th to 1/8th my Sunpak 333 will match my D70s's 3fps.
