Yeah, but we never gave him an actual "serving"...just the bottom of the bowls to flavor his dog food. Wife and both daughters are wanting to fill the hole in life with a new one, but I put the stop to it. No urge to just sub in a new tongue wagger for a while now.He could handle chili? Really sucks to enter a house with nobody to greet you or to have to let in at night, but we can move on for a while and it will be good for the girls.
Best trail dog ever. Have her trained to stick behind the back of the last in the group, and gets out of the way of cyclists, and is faster than most guys I ride with.
How did you bike train her? I am thinking about wearing a small bell when I walk mine, and transitioning the bell to the bike, then along with some leash/bike sessions along with a food reward...thoughts?
Lots and lots and lots of obedience training first. When she was a puppy I walked her on bike trails and had her move to the side and sit when bikes came along. Did that for a season, then the next season I used a harness and rode with her leashed along side me on paved paths for a few weeks, always yelling at her if she went in front and saying "Back". If she goes in front, bump her with your wheel to scare her.
So basically a lot of patience and constancy for a few months and they usually get the hang of staying back. It really only works if the dog has good recall and is generally obedient. Use a harness to prevent neck injuries. Be prepared to be frustrated for a while! haha.

Sounds complicated. I went on short rides with my guy when he was a pup and he just refused to ever leave the pack until he was an adult. Only left me twice, once because he thought I'd taken off on a run down Beech Mountain DH and once he chased a truly epic deer for a bit. Both times, I stayed put and he came back to the exact spot. Was I just lucky? (being serious since my only experience with a trail dog went well)
Try owning a Spitz breed and you'll see how complicated training can get! 
Upside is extremely intelligent (although that means independent as well), more agile than any other dog we've come across, and they don't run away unless DEER! Yup, she also chases deer. All 25lbs of her :/
Probably easy enough to just get the dog to follow, but around here the trails are very busy, right by busy train tracks, and she's my GF's little kid so if anything happens I'm responsible. So I put good training into her and she stays back out of harms way.

Update. Roo is 6 months old, and she's up to 9-10 miles on runs now so I'm going to start taking her on shorter trail rides when my new bike shows up.
Love the cattle dogs. I own two. Chase on the left, 3 years old, Barley on the right, 2 years old.Took Roo on a ride yesterday. Could barely get her to sit still for a picture

Big guy is a full size Austrailian Shepherd the other two are Mini Aussies
My dad wants a beagle.
Here's Rigby. We've had him about a year now. We think he's an Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix of some sorts, but who knows.
