That's pretty unfortunate. I knew a few kids with it. It's understandable. The father's reaction might have been my own too.
An old girlfriend once had a cousin who was dutch and 14 years old who spoke no English. Her brilliant idea for us to take him to get ice cream without either of his Dutch speaking parents there almost cost them the side window of the SUV and me my neck.
