I just got back from a week in Whistler and now I'm back in the office. I had so much fun, did things on my bike I never thought I'd do and generally rode like a nut. None of the local riding is going to be the same after this:nopity:

Weather: a little wet the first day, dry and sunny the rest of the time.
Riding: The mountain kicked my ass the first two days, then I sorted it out and had a lot of fun.
Beer: Kokanee, lots of it... at least 6-10 a day:rofl:
Women: I don't know what they put in the water up there, but I approve of the results:)
Food: the biggest dissappointment of the trip, its all straight off the Sysco truck..
Injuries. None for me, but my buddy John broke both of his elbows and wrist:ouch: At least the poor bastard did it on the last day.

Before you move to Canada, remember your lease requires 30 day notice that you intend to vacate. Otherwise I get the stumpjumper:blah:

Never been to Canada, but just have some image in my mind that the border officials might look like Terrance & Philip. Did you almost get deported? Pics, please... let's have 'em.

Sorry to hear about your friend hope he heals up quickly.

John'll be OK in 6-8 weeks the doc says.

Canadian Immigration thing: due to all the terrorist crap that happened in London they were running a lot of background checks on people at random. So lucky me, I get pulled for an 'interview' Most of the questions were simple, normal stuff. Then they ask "Have you ever been arrested?" Well, yes I have:mumble: I have to go through the whole story of my trying to ditch a cop in my car 8 years ago... The immigration officer informs me I'm not allowed in CA due to this, but takes sympathy on my situation and lets me slide in. He said next time I should carry my court papers just in case..

Advice to anyone with any criminal record trying to enter CA: Do NOT try to lie to them, they can check your record in the states, and will! If you lie it will only piss them off and send you packing. Since I told them the whole deal they could trust my honesty in the situation, it made all the difference.

When you're coming back into the states, they normally ask you if you have anything from Canada that you're bringing back with you....They don't like it when you turn to your passenger and ask, "Does the dead hooker in the trunk count?" (I was 19....what do you want!!!....) That was a tricky situation to get out of....

I am in the same boat as you. (Got back yesterday)

It's going to be hard to get myself to go ride anywhere after having such a good time riding up there.

I'm scared to open my bike box. My bike got f'd up from that much riding. I cut the sidewall on a brand new Nevegal DH on freight train.

Its not like the riding sucks in S.B. But after trails like Schleyer and Dirt Merchant......Well its time to get a job in Van. ;)

It's about this point that you start to realize the good parts about being a dual citizen, eh?

My bike went through hell there, blew a fork seal, destroyed my rear wheel (cost $210 and a missed day of riding to lace up a new rim) and tires are missing knobs.

God I want to go back.

I'm pretty sure I ruined my rear hub there. I haven't put the bike back together yet to find out for sure...
Ditto. I tightened it twice during the trip. I basically had to make it to where the bearings felt like sh*t to get rid of the play.:mumble: Rear wheel lost most of its spoke tension after day one (I'd just trued and tensioned before leaving too)

Dirt Merchant is my favorite trail. I wish we had something remotely like that here. Knapps is probably more remote than remotely.

After my first 4 day excursion up there back in June, I, get this....SNAPPED!!!! 3 spokes....IN HALF!!! just plain sheared em off! Good thing Arrow rims don't need all the spokes in em to stay true!!!

Good luck on getting everything back together d00d!

You went to Whistler Noah! Hell yeah. How damn fun is that place!

I can't believe Jon got so banged up, I hope he heals up good and quick.

If you are jonesing for some riding that's more similar to Whistler than SB by far head up this way, it's a lot easier on the wallet.

The trails up there are short. And there's poison oak evreywhere .

But, they are fun. My favorite one had some some kickers (maybe 1), and ended down a steep/wide section next to the Hwy.

Actually living in Van. sucks, so does living in Whistler, and don't even think about living in Washington, all it does is rain here. Everybody should just stay in Cali. or where ever you're from and just visit once a year. :sneaky:
