Gotcha. I think I'm almost there as well. Most of my XC rides are suited more towards 140mm. My Mbuzi is definite over kill. I did a 6.6 mile XC shuttle yesterday where I used all 160mm of travel but those are not the norm and that ride would still have been doable on 140mm of travel.
Exactly. I'm already on the burlier side of bike choice compared to a lot of people doing the same rides as me. What attracted me the most to the evo was how dialed it was straight out of the box. The only changes I made were putting my I9 enduros on it, switching to tubeless, and a wider bar and shorter stem.
So far i'm finding it's lighter than my morewood was, descends with MUCH more confidence, and is a stronger climber despite having much more gravity-oriented geometry. Much less pedal feedback in under heavy load, and a propedal "custom" tune that works a lot better for me. The only place i'm having some trouble adjusting is really tight, twisty, technical trails that are slower in speed. That's where the shova really excelled so it's going to be hard to beat in that department. I'm having to learn to corner like i'm on a DH bike
Planning on ripping some laps at the Windrock campground on friday afternoon if you're around.
