Hmmmm I assumed the Bronson would be similar but the S-twerks geo looks really good, the back end is pretty short, I'd imagine they push through corners if you get lazy?

chainstay is indeed shorter on the enduro. i had to shorten the chain from the bronson by a few links.

No no, wasn't complaining, just when you see a carbon enduro, rolling on bos/inline, enve, etc... You don't really expect a x9 derailleur up there

i have had so many people crap on my x9 r der (which is a type 2), they ask 'why did you buy that, and not x0?'

The x9s I've had really could benefit from some moar shimz because they develop a shit ton of play in them.......
Hmm, perhaps we've identified a burgeoning market for anti-flex shimz? Besides, I bet a lot of riders who have X9 derailleurs also have an iphone 6. The possibilities are endless.

I've owned pretty much every version of xo derailleur since they came out in like 2003.
I still have one FROM 2003 that's still going. That's actually why I kept seeking them out. They're pretty damn durable. I've had several x9s in that span too. Only one of them (out of maybe like 6?) lasted more than a year or two. They just got sloppy and loose at the parallelogram pivots.
Like I said........I really don't want to be this guy........But I kind of am. And honestly I haven't bought any of the x9 stuff from the last two years, maybe it's better. So take that for what it's worth. I do believe the xos really are better made though.
Full confession: I've never walked into a store and bought an msrp xo derailleur. They've come on bikes, come in trades, some handed to me for favors......I wouldn't go pay full price for one, that's nuts.
All that said the worst thing I've had happen to a shimano xt derailleur is that the clutch goes weak and you get a new warranty replacement. I'm no scram fanboy other than the 11 speed 42t thing for trail bikes. Shimano "second tier" stuff is good. And by that I mean XT or Zee. And by good I mean better than x9.

I don't know about the X9, but the current generation X7 rear derailleurs are the worst pieces of junk I've ever bought. They have pretty bad slop in their main pivot (the one that the derailleur hanger bolt goes through) from brand new. I warrantied my first derailleur because of that, but the second one is almost as bad as the first one. I actually went to a LBS to wiggle all the X7 derailleurs they had on display and every one of them got some degree of looseness in the main pivot. And that gets gradually worse with some use.
The parallelogram linkage may not be loose when new, but after very little use it will be.
The current Shimano derailleurs are not perfect either because the thin piece of sheet metal in the clutch mechanism will snap, rendering the clutch useless, but at least the pivots stay reasonably tight even after some use.

My experience with older X0 RDs is the same as @kidwoo . I have one from 2003 who refuses to die. I changed its pulleys to aluminium ones because the old ones didn't have any teeth left about a year ago, and it's still going strong.
I have a Type 2 X9 in my Prophet, bought about 2 years ago when they were first released, and though it didn't develop any play, the crappy Malaysian bearings in the pulleys seized after their second ride. It was muddy as hell, but I only rode maybe 4 hours in the mud. Changed those crappy bearing for some fresh SKF ones, and haven't had any more issues ever since.

Woo and slim are right on in my experience as well. XO is better made and more durable. Sometimes the difference is more than just a few grams.

Got my frame today, seems the postman didn't like X12 so he squashed it to 130x12mm, haha!
idk what woo is talking about. all of my pivots on my x9 t2 are so tight, ive considered taking apart mine to 'help' it out. my clutch is so notchy as well, although it does awesome on the trail.

no, i hear peeps about the contact point at the frame. my current x9 developed play there...i kept trying to crank it tighter to no avail! other than that though i've probably had 3 or 4, both type 2 and not, and no other issues.
Quick phone shot of my new bike, better photos to follow. 2015 Giant Trance SX that I picked up today. Popped on my Chromag saddle/stem and Nukeproof Carbon bars, and my Rever (need to buy a new stealth post, want 150mm but this is 30.9). All thats left to do is get the stickers of the rims and start riding it!
The 2015 spec on the Trance SX seriously embarrasses last year's model for only $200 more. Then again, mine came in rootbeer.
