I've said it before and I'll say it again. The electoral college is institutionalized voter suppression that goes hand in hand with this countries original sin of slavery. It was created as such for the express purpose of marginalizing black people. It will continue to exist as long as this stupid fucking country continues to pretend like the Constitution was dictated by God Almighty himself to exclusively white men who were pure as the driven snow.
and the reason we can't get rid of it is because doing so would require a constitutional amendment.

But there is so much voter suppression going on, on so many levels, that is amazing to me Democrats dont push back.

It’s probably a delicate issue which will polarize and create a nearly 50/50 split. If Dems say there’s a problem with the process then the Conservative Reps will push back and say Dems hate American traditions.

Is it Australia with compulsory voting or somewhere in Yurp?
We have compulsory voting in Peru. You get a $60ish fine and cant sign contracts/do gvmt paperwork if you dont vote. Its a pain in the ass.

Besides the whole liberty thing, am not really sure if its better or worse. You get wild picks when loads of people who would otherwise not care, decide their vote on a coin flip.

Yeah, when I expatted for a while in Belgium, I remember voting being compulsory. I seem to recall there being a list of shame for all to see if tou didn’t vote. I also think that resident aliens with work (permanent) visas were also required to vote.

For the record, I mostly support Palestine as well in certain ways.
And despise unilateral US actions, as well as Israel’s stance right now, my commentary falls more in line with ‘devils advocate’ exploration of an opposing view, which is what is taught in Poli sci to explore, and not ignore.
I apologise if that is unclear, I haven’t really slept in two days, and still haven’t left JH.

I was attempting to engage in a conversation with Avy that presented an opposing view without resorting to shouting him down, you know, civil discourse.
I’m here Brother.

I do not understand rideit? Why would you need to resort to shouting me down? There is no opposing view Brother.
