Kia ora fellow simians,
Wednesday's nearly over for me.
Been a busy time for me, works been nuts, and the house build has been a nightmare.
I'm taking 20 days off work to sort the house build out and get it back on track..... Still got called in for a short notice 12 hour shift over night last night.

Been pretty stressed out and need a break TBH, so tired of it that I withdrew my application to get seconded to the International team today.
Bit gutted about it as it's a dream job for me. Senior advisor Disaster Risk Management working with the pacific island nations (yes lots of travel to the pacific islands, the person I'd replace is currently spending a week in Rarotonga after 5 days in Samoa the month before and Tonga the month before that!).
I just think I'd be biting off too much at this time, I'll have another try next year.

Good on ya @DaveW for recognizing the need to step back and take care of yourself. I know from first hand experience that can be scary and feeling like your setting yourself back. But in hindsight it's always worked out for the best.

My SID broke last ride. Lost travel. So borrowing my friends Santa Cruz today but just happy to go for a ride today. I had it serviced in February so not happy its giving me problems already. At least not what I am used to from my Pike on the old bike.

My boys got back from Iceland today and I am really looking forward to seeing them on Sunday. As much as I have not regretted my divorce this is the only thing that sucks.

Leaving Amarillo not a minute too soon. I swear even the bowl of cereal I had this morning came with a 12oz ribeye on the side.
I don't mind a steak but these days it makes a big difference if I done some physical activity before. I feel it just not need if its a day after I have been sitting in the office but if its after a big ride it good.

not looking forward to it hitting 100 today. Cool now at 0545 so I have the windows open and the fans on. Did a good hard hour of weight lifting in the gym last nigh which let me sleep like a brick, I needed it.

I have all my fishing gear loaded into the camper so I can head to the Sierras as soon s I get off work on Friday. Can't wait to get the fuck out of town.

Espresso then off to work I go

Here. New fitness program starts today. The goal for me is -40# by eoy. Haley is about cardio fitness and strength, with +3# by eoy.

The weekend was hot. It was over 100* everyday in Grand Junction. Haley finished 3rd, but they caught lap traffic on lap 16/18 which pretty much prevented any passes the last two laps. During the race, the dad of the girl who got second called it that Haley was going to catch her (which she did) and pass her (lap traffic). Everybody was surprised that she didn't get 2nd.

I noticed that she is changing her body position to be more like the top guys on the team - it's a lot stiffer and more upright. She's not leaning out to lift the inside wheel any more. She's just turning in, setting her angle, and letting the kart come to her - usually in the form of a 4-wheel slide under full throttle or rotation. Drifting is slow, but that type of turn is really fast.

She's also started taking some of the tougher lines that require more strength - curb hopping is a big one. Most cadets aren't strong enough to take the straight line to and through the S' at Junction. She is taking a line that's about 75' shorter, doesn't require turning through them, and positions her better for a fast exit from the hairpin at the end. She will close 2-3 kart lengths there. Greg and Kyle think that she's on a tipping point.

It's also a DQ if you get 4 wheels off the ground through the S'. It's amazing that she didn't get disqualified.

There's a classic old saying: "You're not stuck in traffic, you ARE traffic." :D
It’s true. I say that to myself on behalf of car drivers as I pass them on the separated multiuse path sometimes

today is the caverns + adventure park here at Glenwood Springs. but first donuts at Sweet Coloradough

What it do, skiparoo! I woke up to heavy rain and wind and fts, so I packed up my shit and headed into work to hit the treadmill. Ran 9 miles in 62 minutes. The locker room and showers at work are nicer than any gym/fitness center I've ever gone to.
