Conditions where not icy, and I think most of them rode without studded tires.
You actually get some traction when the snow is medium/hard without ice.

But you do not stop in a dime, that's for sure :-D
Carving and longish turns is the way to go.

We are planning a similar day in my town too. Will try to get that taped as well.

And yeh, they had norwegian national tv up there, and the police came up with a radar gun. Top speed is unofficially said to be 72km/h...anyone good at translating that into mph?
