Well, I started my new career in the legal professional this week. I am a Litigation technology Specialist. That being said, I would like to pose a question, I need some small speakers for a laptop, that are extremely portable, but has a decent sound quality to be used for courtroom, presentation and deposition, to name a few apps.

Thoughts ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Just to clarify... you know that any kind of decent speakers will require a power source, right?

Logitech makes a lot of 2.0 portable speakers, I'd give them a shot. If you want or can carry a small subwoofer to add a little volume for large spaces, these are excellent and very compact:

Thanks. yeah I know, a smaller setup with a sub would be the best, however the portability issue in setting up in a courtroom, let alone carrying the extra weight was a cause for concern.

I did have an issue with small speakers in the courtroom, and had stated for the record it would be well advised NOT to chince on the speakers, however, the boss is the boss.

I'd say a sonic impact T-amp and a small set of bookshelf speakers would be the ticket, I think for a room larger than about 10x10 you'll need at least 4" drivers

If he won't buy those X-230s because it's too much of a headache to carry the 'woofer, what makes you think he'll carry a T-amp and bookshelf speakers with 4" drivers?

We agree that the OP is going to be dissapointed with small speakers in a large room, he is going to have to carry some equipment, and it makes more sense to carry a small battery powered amp than a big subwoofer that will need an outlet.

I think the OP has a case of tunnel vision though, his idea is that a pair of small speakers will accomplish something that they can't really accomplish I was just trying to give another suggestion that more closely resembles the obvious solution of a >15watt amp and 6" full range speakers. Unless you're using really small speakers I don't think a sub is necessary for the use described.

Yes, I agree, however, the attorney and the associated support personnel will throw a fit! That is of course when the jury didn't hear the deposition, because the sound sucked, and they lose the trial, then the extra weight won't be an issue.
