Suspension Design
The Commencal design team of Max, Frederic Bernard and Olivier Bossard (BOS Engineering) have produced bikes that have won an incredible 74 World Championship titles across the sport. Commencal uses the services and experience of BOS Engineering and their F1 inspired data-log technology to achieve this at all stages of the design process. This allows the design team not only to find the best location for all suspension components and an excellent structure but to also perfect the understanding of the interaction between rider and bike.
All this resulted in:
The Connecting rod – Rocker link system.
The addition of a connecting rod - rocker link system between the frame and rear shock is essential to control the progressive response of the rear suspension by changing the wheel movement / shock ratio. A connecting rod fixed on the rear triangle pushes the rear shock via a rocker link fixed on the front triangle. Each pivot point is calculated with precision to affect the progressive reponse of the rear suspension and improving its function.

Talk to SkaTodd, I believe that the Iron Horse guys are still doing it? But the prices have gotten jacked up kinda high because the dollar isnt doing so well compared to the euro.

Heikki.. (this is Orven on my gf's account)
True..regarding the USD value vs. euro..and I don't Todd ever replied to PM in the past.
Anyways, didn't you (or still do) have a be one frame? wana sell it?? Remember, it's used, raced, beaten up and not barely ridden:)

Sorry for the thread-jacking and I like the Comm. Supreme DH a lot. It looks like the old Sunn Prototype. Should be a great addition to the niche market shared by the likes of Nicolai, Be One, Scott, etc. I hope the brand takes off.

C'mon Jeff, do you really want everybody on the same brand name frames? That'd be a boring mountain bike world. It's like hearing 4 people who just came out of the theater talking about the same movie they all just saw the last two hours. :)

I'm just wondering why they needed a F1 engineer to get a single pivot.

Anne Caro ROCKS and coule win on Sanjay's Pixie bike.

I know you are joking but regardless, I look at it like this...

A Honda = $18,000 Acura = $27,000

Toyota = 22,000 Lexus = $40,000

VW Passat = $25,000 Audi A4= $36,000

All are the same basic car as their high price cousins but w/o a few bells and whistles.
Where do I fit in? Well I have the Passat, and I love it. :thumb:

Well, the RM7 isn't an inherently bad bike. It just has a couple of key problems that they haven't addressed like a weak swingarm and a high shock leverage ratio. If they fixed those 2 things, the bikes would be pretty good. I parking lot test rod one and it felt really good.

From the looks of the commy, they did a better job designing the swingarm.

Yes, one pivots behind the BB, and one pivots near the top front of the chainring, but it still isn't anything revolutionary.

rocky seems to have adressed these issues with the rmx. its too bad the earlier design issues have tarnished people's perception of the rm series. i had an rm-7, which was a great all-round performing ride, but was plagued with pivot wear/play. a buddy is riding a new rmx & couldnt be happier - its been perfect so far. anyhoo, back on track...

The RMX series allegedly did just that. I wonder if it's too little too late for RM though. That was one very anticipated like of bikes back in '00 or whenever they were first released. Then there was one horror story after another... for three (or 4) years!
