Hi,

The mechanics at my lbs. say that pressing a new headset into an aluminum frame is a bad idea? I never thought this was a problem. Any thoughts?

I've never heard of that being a problem, and from a materials point of view I don't see much reason for that to be the case.

That is the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time. I wonder how many aluminum framed bikes they sell

ask them if they prefer cantis or U brakes, and what they think of kleins new fangled 1 1/4" headtube size

The question here is why??

All you have to do to thwart them is ask them that. Then tell them to get the arses in gear and do it.

An even smarter thing to do would be to go to another shop. They don't seem to have a grasp on mechanical things there, so if I were you I would not let them work on your bike.

I didn't think it would make a difference, but i overheard one of the mechanics saying something about it over the phone.

and have never had any problem. All those headsets on all those alu bikes got there somehow.
