pressing in new DU shock eyelet bushings -- scraping out a bit of the red stuff?

So I just pressed in some new bushings. They were pretty tight.

When I pressed the pin through the bushing, it scraped out a bit of the red stuff. The pin feels smooth and tight in the bushing now, though.

Is scraping a bit of the red stuff out normal?

Get away from the shock and call bomb disposal.

But yeah, kinda normal - tolerances and all that. Worry when it gets loose again in a few months, then do it again.

good to know.

I tried needle bearings on my last bike to replace the bushings ... no complaints. May go that route if these bushings crap out too quickly.

Igus pretensioned bushing + steel pin = sweet.
+1. i'm at 2.5 years on this setup on a bike that i was replacing standard metal DU's every 6-8 months. not to mention better tolerances and smoother.
