anybody running the transition prestion w/ a dual crown? i saw a picture on one of the gallery pages that looked like JS was running a dc, but the picture was cropped so it was hard to be sure (for those looking, it is the background picture on the gallery page, not a pic in the gallery).

think it might be a cool rig to have a boxxer-ride setup. anybody doing it? anybody wanna talk about it? have i just wasted your time? :(

don't be subjecting your bike to the shame of having a boxer on it

Around DC
I think they are supposed to be able to take one but i think a 6" Z1 or a Sherman slider plus would be a choice for that bike.

anybody know what the dc fork size limit is on one of these (just out of curiosity, not going to put a super monste on it). yes, i know i could send them an email, but this is more fun.

more importantly:
anybody running a pike with this frame?
anybody have input on the 5" plates vs the 4" plates?
are there iscg mount tabs on the frame?
anybody running wide tires with the new frames (rumored 2.8" clearance)?

hate to be a d!ck, but did you read the questions? i was asking for riders' experiences. i also noted that i was aware that i could email the company for some of the info. you just here to boost your e-biking posts or is the braille function on your computer screen malfunctioning again?

i do appreciate the bumpity bump bump.

Whoa there, he was just offering an idea.....

I say don't do it, that bike was made for riding where a SC is better- Dj's, trails, street, etc. Not gnarly downhill or anything where you'd need the stiffness of a DC fork.

sorry, lotsa caffeine today, feelin' saucy :mumble:

yeah, i think a pike would be the sheezy on that frame. my bb7 is killing me on the long pedals, it is way more bike than i need for the local trails. now that big bear is shut down, it almost seems a waste to have a big dh bike in socal (wasn't very necessary at BB either). i also don't have a chance to make the longer drives to bootleg/n*/etc. i was thinking of getting a new hardtail, but the prestion+pike combo is on my mind these days :help:

It's an '03 Slider on JS's Preston and he really digs it, as per the boys at Transition. Unfortunately, only 6" DC forks are covered under warranty - one reason that I didn't go for the Preston over the Dirtbag.

here's a review http://www.hickhucksters.com/prestonreview.html I believe it touches on some of the stuff you are asking about

go with a '05 z.1 fr1 and don't look back

It has ETA if you want to lock it down to climb with, locks it down nice and low too

yeah, read the review before. sounds good.

not sure that the z.1 fr1 is what i want. it is more coin than the pike and more importantly, i like the fact that the pike has adjustable travel, not just a lock down. still uncertain how i feel about the fact that the pike says rockshox on it. possibly a manipoo middle ground is required. though i was unahppy with my sherman back when i owned my 03 iron horse sgs expert.
