Wow, 1 person, 1 vote, sounds like a great idea, NOT! How dare we adopt some archaic and confusing system where the majority of voters actually decides who becomes president?? This will totally eviscerate the stranglehold that OH, FL, PA and yes, CO have on deciding who becomes president...

Wouldn't your vote be included in the national popular vote? In which case it would count after all.

The article mentions how this would threaten the two party system, and I disagree. Requiring the electoral college delegates to vote for the the winner of a national popular vote seems like it would make it tougher for 3rd party candidates. But whatever...

Here is the thing. Why should threaten the two party system. There aren't two sides on every issue. There are many sides. The world isn't red or blue people. It's gray. Many, many different shades of gray.

The false dichotomy of a two party system (where the parties really aren't that different) has gotten us where we are today.

I am all for popular vote electing the president. For this to work the electoral college needs to go away. For something like this to be passed it is defeating the whole purpose of the electoral college. I can see how the electoral college works and am not opposed to it.

To wait until the election is over then award Colorado's electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote is not right. Suddenly Colorado is no longer important, if you live in Colorado what would be the point of voting? There would be no reason to visit Colorado campaigning. A candidate only needs to win over heavily populated areas like CA, and NY to get the popular vote and those of us in Colorado automatically vote for them.

Welcome to over half the states in the union?

It's a step in the right direction...Nothing short of a constitutional amendment will change it without a popular groundswell amongst the states.

Your state's on the forefront yo. Leading the charge. Showing the way.

Pretty soon your dh racers will cast off the TLD tele tubby suits that the californians put in place only a few years ago. This is only the first of many steps.

The thing is, what you're describing is a popular vote that you said in the first sentence you're for. The mechanism Democrats are trying to put into place would function EXACTLY like a popular vote. You can confuse yourself all you want, but there IS NO DIFFERENCE.
