So I buy some stuff from Performance. I have price matched and used a coupon and saved a ton of dough. Question is - I have seen coupons on MTBR and read people's complaints. I have never signed up there, since I value few of their opinions, so I can't ask my questions there.

Any how - do you feel violated when you can't use a coupon that you found on the Internet? Do you get pissed when you can't use a coupon and points? When you can't combine the coupon with price matches. They will match prices. I have only been turned down once, and there was a $39 a tire difference. I bought them elsewhere and everyone was happy. I understand that they are in business to make money. It's unfortunate for people that don't know how to find best prices, but when you can, they honor them. I don't mind that they don't offer combined discounts to save you a ton. I have taken advantage of them before. Just wondering what rational people think about it. I am including myself in the group of people with rationale in regards to this.

Is it wrong for them to say, you can use a coupon, but not price match and vice versa? Are they wrong to not apply discount points when you price match or use a coupon? You already get upgraded shipping for your membership and they often have good sales. Just wondering if the posts I read on MTBR were just tight asses bitching cuz they can't stick it to the man anymore.

No if that's their policy that's clearly stated.
i went there a year ago to buy a CK headset on an internet coupon and price match, and was denied and was treated like i was trying to rip them off. i won't buy anything from em anymore.
i don't mind the fact that they want to make a buck, but don't treat customers like they're trying to rip you off when you don't have your own policy well defined.

I think it's absolutely ludicrous that anyone would expect Performance to have a policy that loses them money.

Sounds like the same crowd that left the LBS and went running to the internet for better prices, is looking for the "next" great deal. Performance isn't stupid though, they know what the stuff costs them and what margin they need to make.

Those same asshats who think Performance "owes" them some certain price are just as sadly deluded as they were when they stood at the register in the LBS demanding price matches from the internet. Ain't gonna happen no matter how much they bitch.

yeh - but I did the math on those and they were like $89 plus another 20% off. They do tend to lack tact though. I got that guy on the phone last night when they price matched a singleator. I got it from them so they would ship it 2 day. That is really the only thing I like a lot.

i got a King headset for $65 (price match + 20%)
i got a set of D/A hubs for $120 ( " " + ")
i got a Fizik Aliante for rediculously cheap (" " + ")
CarbOne mini-pump for sediculously cheap (" " + ")

because of that, i bought the Team Performance thing, and check them for prices on stuff, but they rarely have what i'm looking for. if they did, i would just get the price match, and not deal with the coupons. i don't think that is asking for too much.

one thing that did irk me was when i bought the Park PFP-2 in Fremont, CA. $70 pump, and the guy at the register said i wasn't going to get any Team Performance points 'cause my name wasn't in his computer. then, as we all know, the pump broke 2 weeks later.
