It's done! Stripped down my XC bike, used some parts, bought others, stole some from Caitlin's bike, dremeled a headtube...

Frame was only $40 cause the headtube was slightly ovalized (nothing a deep cup HS couldn't fix), and I'm quite pleased with the current spec...I love the way it rides. With the saddle low it's pinner for DJ and urban, like a big bmx bike that actually fits, and with the post high it feels like a more throwable XC bike. It will be serving all of those duties. Now to call Ells and get some new decals (previous owner had replaced the cool logos with crappy RWB ones). I'm very happy to have a bike to help improve my techical skills for DH...

Is it me or is that a looong saddle? It looks like it has a nice shape.
Fizik Gobi I think. One of the most comfortable saddles ever! And yes, fairly long.

Sweet looking bike, that frame looks insanely clean as it is. Did the previous owner never ride it?

Yeah, it is uber-long. What came off my XC bike...I'll probably swap for something smaller.

The true previous owner actually thought he got shafted on eBay when the frame arrived at his door with a "****ed up headtube" (what he said to me when I bought it), but it looks like whoever owned it before didn't do much with it (aside from taking the cool decals off...you can see where the ano faded around them in the last pic). There are some scratches, but it doesn't look anything close to how old I think it is (02).

The chainguide is really loud, and I think my x.9 shifter is broken something fierce, but aside from that I'm really digging this bike.

Btw Ito, the Gobi was a 15$ score out of the takeoff bin at a random LBS...bwahahaha.

Nice all around ride, hope you enjoy it. My main ride is a Sub 22. Mine is a '02 and I believe yours is the frame that replaced it so it may be newer.
Isn't that a Specialist, not a Sub22? Or am I confused?

very nice :thumb:
Of the 8 or 9 EWs that have been owned by friends over the years the ONLY frame that never cracked or failed was a Specialist. My chainguide is really loud too, always has been. I hate that about it.

Pics of your bloody knuckles would be celebratory. As the beatdown of the thief would make me celebrate
