I weight about 175lbs and i'm pretty smooth but saw some reviews and made me sceptical. anyone rode them? i never broke a bar and i dont want to so that's why i ask. at 160g it's pretty light so i'm wondering if it would hold on for dh riding

Yea ^, cranks, bars and stems are pretty vital. I would go with something well-tried and safe. I´ve cracked two bars - you get pretty none-steerable.;)

For what it is worth I ran an Easton Monkey-Lite XC bar on my DJ/Urban bike for well over a year. It was moved to my XC bike now but not for fear of it breaking. I have not and do not personally know anyone that has broken a carbon bar, though I am sure it has happened. My bar is a 1" rise 25.4 also.

That particular bar is NOT strong. I had a customer snap one off on a 4' drop to flat in the neighborhood. Not the only one i've seen broken.

The Pro Taper is the unhappuy customer maker i was referring to.

I trust Easton more than any of the other carbon bars. Not that i would run an xc carbon bar on any type of am/fr bike or whatever but i'm a freak about my bars.
