So my school just installed an incredibly restrictive web filter... Right now I'm using a web based proxy to bypass it, but it's already pretty annoying to use, and won't let me access other proxy sites that are blocked by the webfilter, so that kind of limits my ability to research a better solution.

What I'm looking for is a built in proxy for firefox that will bypass the web filter automatically. I downloaded foxyproxy and I like the features, but I haven't been able to get it to work with the limited proxy ips I've been able to locate so far. Can someone help me out?

You can either have a free web proxy, or a good web proxy.

If you want free, you could try something like Hola Better Internet.

For me, I bought the cheapest, $15/year virtual server from RamNode:
http://ramnode.com/vps.php

I configured it to create an SSH tunnel, and use FoxyProxy to route traffic through that tunnel. Works great, is very fast because I'm not competing with other users, and I control everything.

Pretty simple to install/configure, even if you're not experienced with linux servers.
