Yes, I said disc. As of right now the disc is necessary apparently. Netflix is working on a disc-free install.

Not an ignorant question at all, I had to google it myself just a while ago when I read about the PS3 Netflix deal.
I dont know about the rest of Europe but here in Holland you cant get Netflix or even PayPerView. Pretty sure there would be a market for this so I think theyre missing out on some money.

Guess Ill just have to keep buying good old fashioned DVDs (BluRay is still overpriced) for my PS3 and download UFC from the intrawebz untill they get their **** toghether.

Reason for the Netherlands for not having Netflix seems to have something to do with the decoder most people allready have now for digital/HD TV.
Peeps dont want 2 decoders next to their TV and have to pay for both seperate...

I guess Ill have to wait a bit longer cause of a couple whining old geezers

they started out as a dvd rental company via mail and have recently moved to Xbox. im sure if they move to Europe they will have PAL discs

Netflix is only in American right now because thats what their business model is. Netflix basically almost completely killed Blockbuster here in the States and if they do move internationally, they will undoubtedly kill any video rental chain store that you have over there

HD.....the box will sample the bitrate as it loads. if the box thinks it doesnt have enough bandwidth it will automatically lower the resolution. if you have crappy bandwidth it will always lower the res to look like a junky youtube vid

Gotcha. Once I try it on my PS3 I'll let you know how it works.

FWIW my PS3 is hooked up via HDMI to a 61" Samsung. I'll probably plug a cat5 from the ps3 to my router for a better connection, instead of doing it wirelessly (current setup).

yeah, the new setup will be a streaming setup via the PS3....Xbox currently has it.
and if someone already has either gaming system, then they wouldnt need another "box." its not like these two consoles only stream video

I havn't watched a VHS on a newer tv, but using respective high end tvs and cabling of their time, the DVD => Bluray had a larger wow factor than VHS => DVD

I own a couple BluRays. The Dark Night, Tears of the Sun and 300. (+ about 400DVDs)
I also own a 46" Phillips full HD LCD TV on which you clearly see a difference between most DVDs and BluRay discs, especially the IMAX stuff from Dark Night is amazing. But it still doesnt justify the price of a BluRay disc, I can get 3 DVDs for the price of one BluRay if I shop smart...
Thats why Id love to stream movies on my PS3!

when dvd's first came out, people said the same thing about VHS tapes. give it time, prices will of course come down.

Just set mine up, only watched a small part of a movie that was HD. I have it set up on wifi and there was no buffering and the quality was pretty good. It deff beats having to wait for a movie in the mail, and then when you get it, it doesn't play cause the last retard who had it played frisbee with it and scratched the sh!t out of it.
