I've got a couple of 2001 RS Psylo XC's and, like everyone else, I have the bushing slop. Anyone replaced the bushings w/ the supposed new 2002 models? Do they make any difference or is it just a sh!tty design w/ too little/no overlap?

Is this the type of affair you can do yourself w/o a special puller?

I'm now remembering why I stopped using Rock Shox products a few years back.

I think you have to get RockShox to do it...it does make a difference from what I've heard. They might do it for free if you're the original owner.

You need the tool to do it, some shops have them. The new bushings are better and RS should have done it that way in the first instance.

Oh yeah. You should also overhaul the damper. If there is any air in there it will clunk like a loose bushing. Mine always tighten up after an oil change, and get a little loose after 1/2 dozen rides.

I had this exact problem. My lbs told me that the bushing slop wasnt bad enough yet and too bad so sad I was S O L . They even went so far as to say they had called the local rockshock rep and he could do nothing untill it got much worse and even then it'd be touch and go.

So I wrote a letter explaining all this to every rockshock email adress I could find on their site. The next morning I got a phone call at home from their complaints department. He told me to ship the fork to cycles lambert( canadian distributor in montreal. I'm in bc), and they would take care of me. Later that afternoon I get a call from cycles lambert saying they had recieved a copy of my letter. Over the phone the guy set me up with new lowers/bushings/seals, all this site unseen. He told me to name a bike shop I liked and he would ship them the parts the next day. The shop did the swap for minimal cash and I still had the old lowers to do whatever I wanted with.

There were some problems with getting Rock Shox serviced from the distributor in Canada last fall. The old rep, Cycletech? can't remember the name right now went out of biz and kinda held on to a bunch of forks needing warrantee service. Things were further held up until Lambert became the official RS guys in Canada. At first Lambert got hit with a large backlog of warrantee issues left over from the previous dealer plus the intermitent time with no dealer. Its good to hear they are up to speed again.

;) yea it makes a hell of a difference it doubles the size of the bushings up top and triples the size of them on the bottom. send it back to rock shox it takes about three weeks, at planet bike we've sent back all the previous 2001 models and they returned with new stickers and pretty much the 2002 internals. the 2002 makes the 2001 feel like ish , i love the 2002 psylo
